Description

Nidecker SUPERMATIC Snowboard Bindings

Nidecker Supermatic is what snowboarders have been waiting for: the first universal automatic binding with the option of traditional strap fastening. Many brands have tried—and failed—to crack the step-in code. Most of these systems required special boots, many did not perform well in powder, and none were as comfortable and reliable as a regular two-strap binding.

After four years of development by Team Nidecker, the company created its own step-in system: an automatic fastening solution that addresses nearly all of the problems associated with this type of snowboard binding in difficult winter conditions. After extensive testing and the first period of sales, it became clear that Supermatic was a genuine breakthrough for snowboarding. In just a few years, Supermatic® bindings have revolutionized the way people ride. The Carbon Supermatic® takes things to the next level by combining exceptionally lightweight materials with an advanced hiback in our best-selling quick-entry binding.

This is a stiff, low-profile construction that transfers power to the edges instantly, providing maximum control. Its solid support can handle the biggest transitions and the most demanding lines. Quick entry just got even quicker.

  • The Carbon S Ultraback provides extremely lightweight support and a glove-like fit. Its asymmetric construction uses carbon throughout the entire hiback, including the forward-lean adjuster, for exceptional heelside response.

  • The next-generation LSR 2.0 ratchets automatically lock the buckle in place as soon as you stop tightening. This allows you to instantly set your preferred strap tension and make quick adjustments on the fly.

  • The Carbon Supermatic® works with almost any snowboard boot and rides like a traditional two-strap binding. The AuxTech® toe strap and slimline Exo-Kush Pro S ankle strap provide premium comfort while keeping weight to a minimum.

SUPERMATIC – Construction

The binding features a robust construction designed to perform in all difficult winter conditions. It is made from impact-resistant fiberglass, which provides stiffness, combined with nylon for flexibility.

A very important component is the innovative roller located on the inner part of the hiback. The boot sole and heel slide inward into the binding along the roller without friction. The baseplate also features a non-slip Slip-N-Grip plate, which makes it easier for the boot to slide across the pad and allows you to insert the boot deeper into the binding quickly and effortlessly.

A substantial, rust-resistant, double-sided metal locking mechanism locks and releases the hiback. When closed, it works similarly to the mechanism used in Flow bindings: it presses the boot firmly into the binding and prevents it from loosening.

The nylon asymmetric hiback, known as the Hiback Asym Hadron, has been designed to match the shape of the boot perfectly. It offers varying levels of stiffness, transferring energy where it is needed most while riding. The hiback also features forward-lean adjustment, making it easy to adapt the binding to the conditions, riding style, and individual rider.

The straps use the same comfortable AuxTech construction found on high-end traditional bindings from Nidecker and Flow. The binding also features the same Hybrid-type strap.

Another important feature is that Supermatic comes with universal multi-discs, which are compatible with all common snowboard mounting systems:

  • 4HP (4x4)
  • 3HP (3D)
  • Channel (IDS)

Nidecker also offers a new disc for rental operations and for riders who want to change their binding angles easily. The advanced Rental EasyLock disc uses the Easy Lock system. The disc remains permanently attached to the snowboard, while the bindings can be detached from the board and stored in a bag during transport or storage. It also allows you to easily change the binding angles while testing different setups.

The price of an EasyLock disc is PLN 299 per pair. Please contact our staff for more information about these discs.

The beauty of this system is that it works with boots from any manufacturer and does not contain a complicated mechanism that could jam. If conditions on the mountain require it—for example, in deep snow—you can still step into and out of the bindings in exactly the same way as with traditional bindings.

SUPERMATIC – How It Works

First, adjust the ankle and toe straps once to fit your boot size and prepare the bindings for use. You can also adjust the hiback forward lean and make any other necessary adjustments.

Then comes the quick part on the snow:

1. Entry: more than 1 second per foot — approximately 2 seconds total

Why is it so fast? Supermatic uses a hinged hiback system similar to Flow’s, also known as Drop-In Technology.

Simply insert your boot through the rear of the binding and step your heel onto the locking mechanism lever. It automatically snaps shut in a fraction of a second, securing your boot in place.

You are ready to ride in approximately two seconds.

2. Release: approximately 2 seconds per foot — approximately 4 seconds total

The bindings feature a sturdy release lever located on the inner, safe side of the binding. After bending down, press the lever with your thumb. This releases the locking mechanism and opens the binding.

At the same time, it is helpful to press your boot against the strap while leaning forward. This lifts the strap holding the boot and makes exiting the binding quick and easy.

Warning: Do not press the release lever with your boot. Excessive force may break it.

SUPERMATIC – Summary

In summary, Supermatic is a medium-stiff to stiff binding, rated 8/10. The Nidecker team considers it the most comfortable binding they have developed to date.

We tested it everywhere: on groomed slopes, in steep terrain and deep snow, and in the park while riding over obstacles. The testing involved numerous riders from around the world who were invited to try the Supermatic bindings.

This is the best quick-entry system you can trust. Whether you are tired of bending down, sitting in the snow, and getting your trousers wet while fastening your straps; want to leave the lift faster than your skier friends; or simply have a larger belly and find it difficult to bend over—Supermatic bindings offer a positive solution in every situation!

Have a great ride and enjoy a beautiful winter season.
