We can distinguish several types of windsurfing harnesses. What are they exactly and why do you need them?
Windsurfing harnesses make sailing easier and make it more enjoyable and comfortable. For both beginners and advanced windsurfers, it is great fun. A harness is a special belt or takes the form of shorts, which we attach to the line using a hook. A windsurfing harness makes it easier to control the sail, especially in stronger wind. It allows you to relieve your arms and maintain the correct position of the board. At the beginning, the harness helps maintain the correct posture and works very well at the stage of learning planing.
Windsurfing harnesses are divided into low, high and hybrid. A low harness is also called a hip harness and is characterized by a hook mounted low. We put it on the hips together with a belt that wraps around the thighs. This is a good solution for those who want to relieve the spine, especially in the lumbar region. It is conducive to achieving high speeds. As for the high harness, the hook is placed at navel height, sometimes slightly higher. It is a wide belt that we put on the lower part of the torso. It is an excellent choice for those sailing without planing and on waves. Hybrid harnesses, on the other hand, combine the features of low and high harnesses. They have straps designed to be fastened in the crotch. They cover the lower back and hips.
