EVOLUTION...

A year after the introduction of FLY, we have reached another milestone in development and are proud to present improved and refined models: FLY II PRO and FLY II. The development of the FLY concept was based on using the most proven materials, examining the technical development of the wings in the finest detail, and fine-tuning all the set screws.

-

FLY II is now built entirely from Teijin LE dacron, which significantly increases the durability of its shape.

The leading-edge panels in front of the frame are made of Challenge Code 95, improving stiffness and long-term shape retention.

The rear windows are now equipped with a Dyneema X layer, providing an optimal balance between visibility,
lightness, and structural integrity.

The front windows are made of transparent PVC - reinforced with kevlar.

The windows have been redesigned and positioned in the appropriate places to improve visibility.

Product description

Continuing the concept of increasing the lift coefficient, Fly2 features a rigid frame and canopy as well as a new twist profile, significantly improving handling and control in strong wind conditions. The concept of stress distribution on the wing canopy was borrowed from windsurfing sail construction. The wing shape has been precisely designed to improve low-end speed and handling during upwind maneuvers. Additional leading edge (LE) segments at the wing tips not only reduce drag, but also provide extra stiffness and allow the wing to be flown higher. The ventilated cross strut has been equipped with additional reinforcement, increasing stability, so the wing handles intuitively, and its shape forgives mistakes and the effect of over-sheeting.

FLY was created thanks to detailed research into the technical evolution of wing foiling in the smallest details and the refinement of all details, as well as the use of only the most reliable materials. The first NeilPryde wing includes several unique features and improvements thanks to former sail designer and Americas Cup foil engineer Nils Rosenblad and the entire design team.

Several of these technical innovations used in FLY wings, not visible at first glance, nevertheless make a very big difference in the quality of the wing's construction. Ideas born from the uncompromising взгляд of an engineer, sailmaker and expert on the phenomenon of aerodynamics and airflow on the wing have a very large impact on the innovativeness of NeilPryde wings.

The main idea of Fly is a high level of lift. Each wing size has been refined to create more lift, thrust and minimize drag than comparable wings. This means that the Fly wing can be chosen smaller than another brand for a given wind strength, making it easier to fly, more comfortable and easier to transport. High-aspect wings have a wide tip span. The leading edge curves upward toward the wing tips (dihedral), which prevents the wing tips from touching the water. High canopy tension in the front part of the wing generates extremely strong thrust, providing a stable profile and excellent airflow over the wing even at very high angles of attack.

The trailing edge appears loose, but when filled with wind, it creates the flattest trailing-edge profile to convert pressure into thrust and smoothly control gusts. Composite battens improve the flat trailing edge and reduce flutter. The designed material layout in the leading edge and strut reinforces the material where needed to withstand load and provide the necessary stiffness. Areas with lower load around the tips remain lighter and more flexible. As a result, the wing is not only lighter, but also reduces drag and increases maneuverability thanks to thin, tapered tips.

The wing is flown farther from the body thanks to the center strut design and the unique shape of the handle. Not only to avoid strong turbulence around the body, but also to make handling and pumping more efficient. The specially designed handles also feature numerous additional improvements.

NeilPryde has tested and refined the valves. Innovative Push Valves allow more air through in less time and display pressure without the gauge needle jumping while pumping. Two independent tubes increase safety and prevent the cross tube from expanding and losing pressure and stiffness. FLY is sold with a functional backpack-style bag that has many pockets and a holder for a pump and helmet. The inside is lined with a foil lining that prevents it from getting wet. Additionally, the set includes a universal pump adapter, as well as a repair kit consisting of tube patches and material. Available separately in three sizes is a high-quality Dyneema rope leash equipped with an Anti-Twist system.

-

AERODYNAMIC GAP IN THE BULKHEAD
The large opening between the LE and the front part of the filling panel (which connects the canopy to the strut) allows pressure to equalize on both sides of the wing. This improves overall performance and makes the wing even more stable.

-

INCREASED LIFT LEVEL
Due to the highly refined leading-edge geometry and entry shape, each wing produces maximum thrust (power and acceleration) for its size. This dramatically increases range, allowing riders to use a smaller wing than is typical in any conditions. The result is easier handling and greater maneuverability.

-

REINFORCED STIFFENED CONSTRUCTION
The three-dimensional shape of the wing's leading edge is defined and reinforced by a series of transverse panels converging at the wing tips. This uses the "LE Tube" structure to maximize tension in the critical entry sections – the result is greater lift and a higher stall angle, which provides better acceleration in light wind, as well as the ability to fly efficiently at low angles of attack, ensuring better control and higher top speeds in strong wind.
