While many specialized downwind SUP boards on the market use similar designs, we chose a different approach for the Downwind S-TEC. We believe that extremely rounded or flat bottoms and rail shapes can cause instability, discouraging beginners. That is why we used a very flat bottom section where it matters most: in the standing area. Stability during takeoff is our priority. We used the advantages of rounded shapes and beveled rail/bottom contours only where they are needed. The rounded nose ensures forgiving and smooth landings, and the sharp beveled pin-tail makes it easy to sink the tail to get into flight. We paid special attention to the rail shape, keeping the radius of its curve as high as possible, which further increases stability. The deck has a slightly concave standing area that transitions into a slope toward the nose, ensuring optimal transfer of paddle power into speed. Simply put, the slope prevents the front foot from slipping at the crucial moment of the paddle stroke.

Unlock your potential in downwinding!
While many specialized SUP downwind boards on the market use similar designs, we decided to take a different approach with the Downwind S-TEC. The rounded nose ensures forgiving and smooth landings, and the sharp beveled pin-tail allows you to easily sink the tail to get flying. We paid special attention to the rail shape, keeping the radius of its arc as high as possible, which further increases stability. The deck has a slightly concave standing area that transitions into a slope toward the nose, ensuring optimal transfer of paddle power into speed. Simply put, the slope prevents the front foot from slipping at the crucial moment of the paddle stroke.
Beyond shape features, a key characteristic of a good downwind board is its light weight and stiffness. Low mass and stiffness for direct response are essential. We did not cut corners on quality here. The board is available exclusively in the most advanced S-TEC construction. The precision-cut CNC core is wrapped in a full PVC sandwich with lightweight Biax carbon and additional unidirectional carbon fiber patches covering the length of the standing area and the mirrored foil-supporting section of the bottom. A special lamination method ensures the ideal resin-to-fiber ratio, creating an ultralight triax carbon and PVC shell – the pinnacle of composite board construction. To further reduce weight, we used a rough topcoat on the carbon. Fluorescent nose and tail colors increase visibility and safety on the water.
COMPLETELY NEW TRACKS!
We redesigned the tracks, which now have large openings that make mounting the foil to the board easier: Simply drop the plate nuts into the track while they are attached to the foil, slide them into place, and tighten the screws. To remove the foil, simply loosen the screws and slide the foil backward and upward. We decided not to add extra openings in the tracks, as that would significantly reduce their strength. All boards with the new tracks come with a standard set of 4 plate nuts. The nuts ensure a perfect fit in the tracks, even load distribution, and ideal thread engagement. The foil positioning scale between the tracks is mirrored in the EVA pad design, allowing you to precisely determine where the foil is in relation to the rear foot position. The EVA pad has a subtle corduroy pattern for comfort.
Summary:
This SUP downwind foil board delivers exceptional stability, glide, and paddling speed for easy, early takeoffs. The sloped, concave deck helps convert paddle power into speed. The flat bottom section under the standing area guarantees stability, while the rounded nose and beveled tail ensure smooth landings and efficient flight. Built in the most advanced S-TEC construction, it combines ultralight weight with stiffness and quick response. The new tracks make foil mounting easier, and the mirrored positioning scale on the EVA pad ensures precise setup for better control.
Rider quote:
Vinni Martins: “The board’s volume distribution combined with the unique tail shape makes it easy to get the Downwind off the water! Once you’re riding the waves, control, turns, and pumping are incredibly easy!”
